The Commission meets every third Thursday except July and December at 12 noon in Suite 2400 of County Square.  The meetings are open to the public. The following are dates for the 2009 Meetings:

· Establish local Historic Property Designation and design review.

· Protect, Preserve, and enhance the distinctive architectural and cultural heritage of Greenville County as established by the County Historic preservation Ordinance.

· Foster Civic Pride

· Ensure harmonious, orderly and efficient growth and development.

· Strengthen the local neighborhood character, and improve property values

· Encourage a general harmony of style, form, proportion and material between buildings of historic design and those of contemporary design.

About Us

Weylin Brown (Chairman) is a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room at Greenville Memorial Hospital. He was a circulating nurse on the orthopedic-neurosurgery team for 5 years, and in 2005, moved to his current position as Clinical Database Coordinator for the Operating Room.

             Weylin graduated from North Greenville College in 1991, and from Furman University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Music. He entered the United States Army in 1993 and attended The Armed Forces School of Music, at Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base in Norfolk, Virginia.  He was the Honor Graduate of his class and then went to his duty Station with the 98th Army Band, Ft Rucker, Alabama.

             Sergeant Brown received an Honorable Discharge, and moved back to Greenville in 1997 to attend nursing school at Greenville Technical College.  He received the Clinical Excellence Award for his class and began nursing as an operating room nurse at Greenville Memorial in 2000. Weylin resides in the Sans Souci community in Greenville.

Daniel Atkinson practices law with Wilkes Bowers, P.A. in Spartanburg, South Carolina. 
             Dan graduated cum laude from Furman University, where he served as a Furman Advantage Teaching Fellow and where he was recognized by the Daughters of the American Revolution as his class’ Outstanding Student in American History.  He received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the Washington and Lee University School of Law, where he served as an instructor in legal research and writing. While at Washington and Lee, Dan was active in Moot Court, and he was recognized as Best Oralist at American University’s Mid-Atlantic Regional for the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. Following law school, Dan clerked for the Honorable J. Derham Cole, Chief Administrative Judge for the Seventh Judicial Circuit of South Carolina.
             A native of Laurens, South Carolina, Dan is a second-generation Furman graduate. He is an active member of Furman’s Paladin Club, and he currently volunteers as legal counsel to the Medical Committee for the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas All-Star Football Game. He serves in numerous volunteer capacities within the Blue Ridge Council of the Boy Scouts of America. 

                 Dan resides in Greer with his wife, Amanda.  They are members of Lee Road United Methodist Church in Taylors, where Dan serves on the Staff-Parish Relations Committee and teaches Sunday School. 

Dr. Nancy Welch recently retired as Vice President for Student Affairs, Greenville Technical College. Nancy has her Doctor of Education from Clemson University, Masters in Public Administration from Clemson University and Bachelor of Science in Human Sciences from Florida State University. She was the producer and host of the Nancy Welch Show for 22 years.  She has received many awards for outstanding businesswoman and speaks frequently at clubs, churches and organizations on “Humor is the Best Medicine” telling stories from The Innkeepers Tales. She is an active member and elder in her church, First Presbyterian Church, Greer, SC. She is actively involved in her community, serving on the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce, Greer Community Ministries, Partnership for Tomorrow for Greer, Leadership Greenville, and the Board of Advisors North Greenville University.
